Tenants have asked us about the new rent cards that have been sent out in the mail.
We have followed up the issue with DHHS and we have been informed that the new cards include a barcode instead of the existing magnetic strip.
Australia Post are intending to move away from the magnetic strip technology.
There is a rolling program of card replacement.
The new card does not change tenants’ payment arrangements.
So if a tenant has their rent payments processed by direct debit then there will be no change to the existing arrangement.
These tenants can disregard the card as it is not relevant for them.
