The recently released Department of Health and Human Services annual report for 2014/15 contains some updates on projects in Westmeadows, Norlane and Hampton.
At Westmeadows, the “Valley Park” redevelopment will provide 144 new public housing homes and 200 private homes. DHHS report that the first eight public housing homes have been completed and tenanted.
Down Geelong way the New Norlane project is investing $80 million on 320 affordable homes, including 160 to be used for public housing. Tenants have been moving into the new public housing and the final 28 homes started construction in June this year.
The Hampton Station Precinct project is not as well advanced. Here the Department will partner with VicTrack to build a mix of new public and private housing. Planning approval for this project is still being finalised.
The annual report does not include the Markham Estate project as it commenced in 2015/16. There, demolition of the existing estate is due to commence in December.
