A Senate Inquiry into the level of Newstart and some other payments has been announced. The VPTA is currently working on our submission to the Senate Inquiry arguing for an increase to Newstart, and explaining how this will assist public housing tenants and those on the waitlist.
Submissions to the inquiry are also open to the public, providing an opportunity for people who have experience receiving a Centrelink payment to share their story and provide insight as to how it has impacted them. If you think you would like to make a submission, and aren’t exactly sure how, or would just like some support, the VPTA has prepared a ‘How to Write a Senate Inquiry Submission’ guide for public tenants.
This is a four step guide that will run you through how to write your submission, plus how and where to submit it.
