Since 2000, The Victorian Public Tenants Association has been funded to put the renter voice at the centre of decision making about public housing.

Today our small and incredibly dedicated team helps in excess of 1,500 individual renter and applicant households and conducts more than 200 community engagements every year.

But there is always more to do.

Our funding does not extend to some of what we consider to be our most critical work – celebrating the incredible strength that we know exists in public housing communities and creating opportunities for those strengths to be realised.

We’re proud to facilitate a Tenant Reference Group which provides renters with access to decision makers to discuss the issues important to them, and to be hosting our first Board Observer from the public renter community – providing an opportunity to sit at the table and learn the governance skills that will provide them with opportunities to exercise strategic leadership across sectors.

Our ambition for this work knows no bounds. We want to be delivering training in communities for renters to harness their own voices, publishing more Public and Proud profiles, and bringing renters together.

We need your help to do it. Every donation to Represent! will be used on initiatives which promote opportunity and growth, never a deficit or a story of ‘vulnerability.’
